I would strongly recommend it. It's a city in which you can enjoy culture, social life and the sunny weather. Foreigneirs usually have a general idea of sun, beaches and party but there are also a lot of activities to do in Valencia, such as visiting the center and admire the architecture or visiting La Albufera, a lake in the nearby of the city where you can enjoy the natura and one of the most beatiful sunsets.
Besides, local people are warm and always nice with visitors.

For students shouldn't be difficult to find accommodation. In the nearby of the university there are a lot of flats to share with another students. You can find rooms for 150-300 euros. It's a good option for make friends and meet young people. I would recommend to come to Valencia before your stay and take a look in the universitary zone. In this streets it's usual to see a lot of advertisement of flats and people looking for roommates.
I think that the only difficulty is if you prefer a private appartament; that can significantly increase the cost.

The food is very varied, you can find a lot of options, from typical local dishes such as paella to japanese food.
What places would you recommend visiting in Valencia?
City center, visiting the Cathedral, "La Lonja", the Central Market and both the towers of "Serranos" and "Quart". La Albufera, the lake I previously mentioned.
Ruzafa, to enjoy social life, culture and a bohemian style. "Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias", with its modern architecture, aquarium, museum, etc.
Beaches near Valencia, if you want to enjoy the sun. I personally prefer beaches of little towns in the nearby becuase the beach of the city is overcrowded.
