I love Spain, I was here on holidays before so I thought that why I wouldn’t go on a “holiday” with Erasmus. It was the best decision!

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I receive 6500€ for 10 months so I stay here for two semesters.

What is the food like?

Amazing! I gained a lot of weight but who cares. There are so many good restaurants in the city for reasonable price. The best is actually the small ones like tapas places in near Tarongers and in the old town.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Valencia?

I found a flat in 1 week or less with Spotahome. Their apartments are nice and offer on quite good prices. I live next to the Turia park and it’s 250€ per month which is cheap in this area.

How much does it cost to live in Valencia?

For a person I would say you’ll need 500€ in a month. But if you want to go on trips it will be 700-800.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes, there are plenty of opportunities to learn Spanish. I’m learning on UV because I wanted something I get credits for. But you can go to language courses organized by vip Erasmus or happy Erasmus but it’s around 120€ but at the uni it’s only 65€. At first it’s hard if you haven’t learned Spanish before like me because they speak really fast but you will get used to it. And a good opportunity to practice it are language exchanges. I go every week.
