Why did you choose to go to Valencia, Spain?

Mainly to learn Spanish language and culture.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I've been there for 6 months, but only got paid for 5 months. 438 euros per month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Valencia?

Some faculties of UV are located in Burjassot - really far from the city center. Living in the center and studying in Burjassot can be very tiring. It takes so much time and energy. But for the others, life is fun.

There are lots of bars and clubs in the center and also around Blasco Ibañez territory. At nights it's possible to meet up with friends in "botellons" and then go to these bars or clubs.

During the summertime the most famous activity is spending time on the beach. The city has a pretty long beach side.

You can also find lots of opportunities to do sports.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Valencia to other students?

I would, but the students applying to UV should consider the location of their campus.

What is the food like?

Food is not bad. The most traditional dish of the Valencian area is paella. Bocadillos (sandwiches) can be found almost every bars and cafes.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Valencia?

No, it did not.

How much does it cost to live in Valencia?

The costs are around 200-300 euros. It may differ depending on the specifications of the accomodation.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

There is one course called Centro de Idiomas. They offer special prices for the students of UV.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Valencia from your city?

Airlines.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Valencia?

I would recommend Mya- L'Umbracle. During the summer it has a very beautiful terrace.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Valencia?

100 Montaditos is a nice and cheap place to have some bocadillos. They have special offers some days.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

In the center you can find the Castle and the Cathedral. The old market is very historical and interesting, you can also find fresh food there. There is a Bioparc in the city. Also different exhibitions are held in the Ciudad de las Artes y Las Ciencias.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Valencia in the future?

The weather is really hot. So bring some shorts..
