Why did you choose to go to Valencia, Spain?

Because I've always wanted to visit Spain and I had friends that were Erasmus in Valencia before me who strongly adviced Valencia.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

It depends on how long you stay. You get 438€ for each month (if you go there from Turkey, I don't know the others). The school pays for the passport and visa is for free for Erasmus students. Beware that you don't get paid for plane tickets and you do not receive any money before you go.

What is the student lifestyle like in Valencia?

You don't need to study hard. Most of the teachers think you are there only for fun and they don't expect much from you even if you want to learn a lot.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Valencia to other students?

Claro! :) (though I was at UPV).

What is the food like?

Delicious! And in the markets and groceries you can find any type of foods and especially fruits. It was awesome! One strong reason to go there again! Especially an Erasmus must try seafoods there. Try gambas, or you will always regret it!

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Valencia?

No. I found it from wall advertisements on the streets.

How much does it cost to live in Valencia?

Between 350-400€ per month including rent, bills and kitchen shopping. No need to add travel costs inside Valencia, you can walk or take Valenbici. Note that depending on the house rent it may cost higher.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

There is a Spanish course starting with A2 level for Erasmus, and there are also many private courses but you can not afford it with only Erasmus budget. The language is easy to learn.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Valencia from your city?

Plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Valencia?

La3, L'umbracle or Las Animas Puerto. There are also many nice bars La Vitti, Los Alemanes, Ameba, etc.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Valencia?

You can attend international dinners or cook at home with friends. I would recommend to eat tapas in Aqua shopping mall, sorry I don't remember the name but there were tapas for 1€ on every Wednesdays. You can try many of them there.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Many interesting old buildings and of course Ciudad de Artes y Ciencia. Gorgeous!

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Valencia in the future?

Break up with your girlfriend/boyfriend before going there! :p

Live it fully, do not spend a minute with laziness. Have as much friends as you can! You will remember it your whole life ;)
