Why did you choose to go to Valencia, Spain?
University of Valencia is one of the partner university with my home university. Moreover, I took a chance to improve my Spanish and enjoy the perfect weather.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
Erasmus+ scholarship is around 260€ per month. Due to the high number of exchange students in my home university this year, I could receive the scholarship only during 4 month.
What is the student lifestyle like in Valencia?
The student lifestyle in Valencia is very multifaceted depending on your own interests. It is very common to use Valenbisi (local public bike service) and have a drink almost every day after clases.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Valencia to other students?
Of course, Valencia is a perfect place for a student seeking international experience.
What is the food like?
Very tasty. You should definitely try Paella Valenciana unless you are a vegetarian. In general, the variety of rice dishes is huge.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Valencia?
It is pretty easy to find an accommodation in Valencia. I used Spanish websites like http://www.fotocasa.es or http://www.idealista.com to find mine.
How much does it cost to live in Valencia?
It depends on your spendings, of course. But I would say that around 700-750€ a month would be enough for living.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
University of Valencia offers Spanish courses for Erasmus students at very affordable price. There are a lot of language exchange groups that you can join.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Valencia from your city?
The easiest way to get from Hamburg to Valencia is to take a plane to Madrid and change there for a fast train to Valencia.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Valencia?
I like MYA & L'Umbracle, Le Premier and smaller disco bars like Whitehouse.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Valencia?
Bodega La Pascuala.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Historical city center, Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias.
