Angela in Spain: My Valencia Experience

What is it like to live in Valencia? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Valencia is a big city with a lot on offer, loads of things to do and some realiable public transport to boot.

It’s a beautiful city that provides a great living environment with tons of landmarks worth seeing.

What is the student lifestyle like in Valencia?

Valencia is very much a student city, with those coming from all over Spain and even Europe too. It’s fairly cheap to go out and there is always a party to go to with lots of bars filled with students.

How much does it cost to live in Valencia?

It’s far from the most expensive place to live. A shared flat in the student area will probably cost around 150€ a month. Food is fairly cheapand it’s not expensive to do things.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Valencia? Is there any advice you can give?

No. It’s easy if you look on the internet. The student area is filled with adverts for accommodation too.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

So good! The food in Spain in general is amazing. Paella is Valencia’s signature dish.

What places would you recommend visiting in Valencia?

La Albufera, El Antiguo Cauce del Turia, La Cuidad de Las Artes y las Ciencias, the city centre and other parts of the city like El Carmen. Go up the Miguelete and enjoy some panoramic views of the city and of course there is the beach. There are also loads of really nice places nearby, all easy to get to from Valencia.

Is it good to eat out in Valencia? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

As a student, I usually go to the cheaper places like El Mercado Provenzal or Los Montaditos for example.

But of course there are loads of other options, none of which are really that expensive.

Is the nightlife good in Valencia? Where is good to go?

Valencia has tons of places to go out. I really like El Carmen and Aragón.

However, places like Ruzafa, El Cedro and El Puerto are all really good too.

What advice would you give future students heading to Valencia?

Come to Valencia and enjoy the sun, the parties, the beach and the beauty of this amazing city.
