An English girl's erasmus experience in Salamanca, Spain
The main square - Plaza Mayor
In a few weeks I will have finished my 5 month erasmus here in Salamanca. I can't believe how quickly time has passed! Before coming here, I had heard countless times how Salamanca's student life is so fun, full of bars, as well as having a very prestigious university - and it's all true! The first few weeks were full of erasmus parties, so it was very easy to make friends. However, because you end up making friends with erasmus students, you end up speaking a lot more English compared to Spanish! Nonetheless, my flat is luckily made up of all lovely Spanish girls, and located at only a 10 minute walk from the university. My department is great, I have loved all my modules - the lecturers are all so friendly. The only negative thing I would say is that, now that I'm preparing for my exams, they really don't treat you like erasmus student, you have to know as much as a normal spanish student, which can become very stressful!
Apart from the fact that this year, Salamanca had one of the longest winters ever, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Salamancans are so friendly, everyone says hello to you, from the gym locker room, to the elevator. Anyone who is thinking of coming here - do it! You won't regret it.
P. S. make sure you check out el Barrio del Oeste, it's full of incredible street art, as well as the art-deco museum - Casa Lis!
