What is it like to live in Timisoara? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Beautiful city with friendly people. It has life, especially night life. In weekends everyone is out. For the architecture and style it is called "small Wien".

What is the student lifestyle like in Timisoara?

Everyone is getting out and is meeting new people. The young generation is the luckiest. They can enjoy the most of the night life.

How much does it cost to live in Timisoara?

The rent is very cheap in comparation with other European cities. With 200 euros you can live alone in a one room apartment in good neighborhoods. The food and the city life as well. I traveled a lot and I can say honestly: is a cheap citylife.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Timisoara? Is there any advice you can give?

If you are Erasmus, the school offers accommodation in campus. It costs no more that 50 euro/month but you can find apartments to share too.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

In Timisoara you won't find many traditional foods. It is in the West part of Romania, so the traditions are a little bit lost. If you make Romanian friends, go with them at barbeques. They will grill the traditional "mici" for sure. Go at festivals like "the beer festival" and you can try there "mici" also.

What places would you recommend visiting in Timisoara?

Visit the city center, it is not very big but is full of life and architecture history.

Is it good to eat out in Timisoara? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

It's very cheap to eat out. The malls have foodcourts where you can eat a lot with 3 or 4 euros. The city center has some peatonal streets, near Piața Unirii (Union Plaza) and there you can find pubs with great food (Jarvis, La Strada, etc).

Is the nightlife good in Timisoara? Where is good to go?

If you like to go in underground places try Dark, Scottish, Molly Mallone... But if you like fancy spots go to Epic, Fratelli, Heaven...

What advice would you give future students heading to Timisoara?

Try to make Romanian friends. They will help you in the best way.
