What is it like to live in Timişoara? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It's a city in progress. The 5 years that I've lived in Timişoara have taught me to appreciate and to live every moment to the full. Although it may seem like a city in ruin, it has a story to be discovered. I recommend it with all my heart if you're someone who knows how to appreciate the little things.

What is the student lifestyle like in Timişoara?

Although I didn't go as a student but just to do my own thing, my experience with the young people there (the majority of which are students) was really good. They can see the value in people who are from other places, they're friendly, they like to party and they're open. Give them a chance.

How much does it cost to live in Timişoara?

It's not a very expensive city. On an average wage there, as a student with no family responsibilities, you can live well and enjoy your stay in Timişoara.

Was it difficult to find accommodation in Timişoara? Can you offer any advice?

According to your individual demands and to the location, there are mid and high range prices. The city centre is expensive to rent in at €250-350 a month approximately. There are always advertisements up, from private home or from real estate agents.

What was the food like there? What are some of your favourite dishes?

There's a lot of variety these days. Fast food, local food, international food. A daily menu costs around €5.

Where would you recommend to visit in Timişoara?

The city centre, the walking path along the Bega, shopping centres, the city's surrounding areas for picnics and barbecues and to visit the monasteries.

And to eat in Timişoara? What are some of your favourite places to go?

I highly recommend Beraria 700 for it's excellent local food. Locanda del Corso is a really good Italian restaurant, if a little more expensive.

Where would you recommend for a night out in Timişoara?

There are loads of pubs and places to go in the evenings in the city centre.

I can only tell them to explore this beautiful city for themselves.
