What is it like to live in Thessaloniki? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Since Thessaloniki is my hometown I know it better than anyone else. It was elected as the 2014 Capital of Youth, it is full of students and is a very warming and hostile place, lovely people and atmosphere. I would totaly recommend it!!

What is the student lifestyle like in Thessaloniki?

Since it is full of students, there are many nightclubs, bars, pubs, fast food restaurants, parks and squares where people hang out most of their time. There are hundreds of students at these places in a daily basis.

How much does it cost to live in Thessaloniki?

It is pretty cheap, especialy in the city center where you can easily find an appartment for even less than 300 euros. Average beer price is 3 euros, cocktail-drink 5euros, Greek gyros is 2.50, Pizza family size around 10 euros, sometimes even less at some places in the city center.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Thessaloniki? Is there any advice you can give?

There are many apartments and studios mostly located in the center of the city. They are really easy to be found on some real estate websites.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Except greek traditional food, we have lots of restaurants with Fusion Cuisine, which means it is cuisines from all over the world combined. Plus all of the fast food restaurants, where the vast majority of them uses high quality and fresh ingredients, they produce their own meat and they use exclusively extra virgin olive oil.

What places would you recommend visiting in Thessaloniki?

The White Tower is the most important monument of Thessaloniki, also the city Castles which are 10 minutes away from the city center by bus. Also th museums that are located in the heart of Thessaloniki

Is it good to eat out in Thessaloniki? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

It is really good and pleasant to eat out. Every time you go out for dinner it feels like a completely new experience! Favourite spots... ALL !

Is the nightlife good in Thessaloniki? Where is good to go?

Nightlife is perfect, most of the pubs- bars and nightclubs are open from dusk until dawn, there is a certain area where all of the youth is gathered, called Valaoritou. Very cheao and full of different bars in order to meet everyones needs
