What is it like to live in Thessaloniki? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It's a perfect city for a relaxed weekend because it combines sea view and many choices for entertainment.

What is the student lifestyle like in Thessaloniki?

The student lifestyle contains coffee every day in the sunny weather and red wine or "retsina" in Greek style places. Once per week students go party until early in the morning.

How much does it cost to live in Thessaloniki?

The coffee costs 4 euros normally, the beer and wine 5 euros and the drinks 8 euros. The food around 15 euros per person and the rent around 250 euros per month. It's kinda expensive.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Thessaloniki? Is there any advice you can give?

It is not very difficult although most of the houses are old. Try to find a house in the places as center, "martiu" "tumpa" or "kalamaria".

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The greek food contains a lot of meat. My favourite are gyros and souvlaki. We also have fresh fishes of course and typical greek salads. Don't forget to taste "tsoureki" from Terkenlis bakery in Aristotelus square.

Is it good to eat out in Thessaloniki? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Just try the restaurant "3 Gourounakia" that means 3 pigs. It is in Ionos Dragoumi. Every dish is amazing and the prices are very good.

Is the nightlife good in Thessaloniki? Where is good to go?

The nightlife is not the best. Depends what anyone likes there are many places to go though. Markiz, 3Trois, and Casper only play greek music so if you are coming for abroad don't go to these clubs.

What advice would you give future students heading to Thessaloniki?

Travel to places around Thessaloniki, go to as many islands as you can if you are coming in summer semester and to as many cities like Drama, Kavala and Volos if you are going on winter semester! And of course try all the local foods!
