Why did you choose to go to Thessaloniki, Greece?
I love Greece so this was an obvious choice. And Thessaloniki are much savier than Athens, also smaller and more friendly.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
5 months. Don't sure about the money but about 200 euro/month.
What is the student lifestyle like in Thessaloniki?
Great! Free student cantine, great campus. You can feel, that that place is for students and students wants to be there. Also student parties in campus or faculties. Not possible in my country! And coffee, everywhere.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Thessaloniki to other students?
I recommend the city and the University of Thessaloniki to EVERY students.
What is the food like?
In cantine not very special (except chicken-Tuesdays), but it's for free twice a day.
In the city: the best food. Traditional greek couzine is sooo delicious.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Thessaloniki?
I found myy accomodation by Internet. For greek-speaking is very easy, for not greek speaking could be more complicated but not very. There are some english language web pages, also students or international office can help.
How much does it cost to live in Thessaloniki?
About 350-400 euro/month.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
There is modern greek language school in Thessaloniki. Easy to apply.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Thessaloniki from your city?
By bus.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Thessaloniki?
LADADIKA! The place, near harbour with pubs, clubs, restaurants, taverns and everything you can imagine. Every kinds of music, every kind of party. 24hours pita places where you can eat fantastic souvlaki after party. Doesn't matter if it's midnight, 2am or 8am :D
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Thessaloniki?
Krasnodikio in the corner of Philippou and Venizelou :D
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Museums (free for students). Also some traditional bouzoukia. In the autumn movie festival.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Thessaloniki in the future?
