Experience in Tbilisi, Georgia by Mariam

How did it feel to live in the city of Tbilisi? Do you recommend it? How is the city?

Tbilisi is a city of contrasts. On the one hand - the medieval and cosmopolitan atmosphere (Orthodox and Catholic churches, synagogues and mosques that are located next to each other, small labyrinthine streets, thermal baths, etc. ), on the other hand - the typical constructions of the Soviet Union, Art Nouveau buildings with ornate balconies, and finally ultra-modern architecture (such as the Peace Bridge, for example).

So for me, living in Tbilisi is first of all being part of these contrasts. To be part of something that is much more greater than us, something magical, secret. I don't know what this feeling is, maybe it's a reflection of the long and complicated history of Tbilisi where everything is mixed - the Arab, Persian, Russian and European influences. I don't know, but I certainly know that this feeling is chasing me to every corner of this old city where people are warm, the days are a little lazy, the sun shines in all beauty and God looks at us with a big smile.

How is the food in the city? What are your favorite dishes?

Did you know that Georgia is the cradle of wine? There is a unique Georgian method of vinification in traditional Kvevris and this method is on the list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity. So, if you're in Georgia you must taste the Georgian wine!

The thing with Georgian cuisine, it's very diverse. There is a large assortment of meat dishes like Khinkali (a kind of Georgian ravioli) and Mtsvadi (marinated and grilled meat on a skewer), but there is also a variety of vegetarian dishes with herbs and spices.

One of the most famous national dishes is Khachapuri which is a kind of bread filled with cheese (cheese is also quite present in Georgian cuisine). Each region of Georgia has its own khachapuri and each of them is very delicious.

I also recommend sampling Georgia's national treat - Churchkhela! The main ingredients are grapes and nuts. It's 100% natural and 100% authentic!
