Experience in Skopje, Macedonia by Elena
What is it like to live in Skopje? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Weird, but interesting. Lots of different people, characters and cultures. There is something for everyone. The foreign people love it.
What is the student lifestyle like in Skopje?
Not really good... The students are not privileged... But it's getting better with the student activism.
How much does it cost to live in Skopje?
Not much. The transportation, the food and the pubs are not expensive. A ticket for the cinema or a theater is around 3 euros.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Skopje? Is there any advice you can give?
I don't know if it's difficult. My advice is to search for an apartment before the semester starts, so you can find a better apartment. The student dorms in Skopje are really cheap, but they are not in a really good condition, so I don't recommend them.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
The food is awesome.. you can eat traditional Macedonian food, fast food, Chinese, Arabian, Turkish etc. My favourites: falafel sandwich from the Arabic restaurant Aladin, pide from Gallery 7, good old pizza etc.
