Express visit, Seville in 2 days

For any travel lover, there is no better birthday present than a surprise getaway, and what better destination than Seville!

Even though it is so close by and I have family members living there, I have never dedicated a couple of days to this beautiful city, since the times that I have been there I have been to visit family. And honestly, after having seen it, the song that says that Sevilla tiene un colour especial (Seville has a special something) doesn't surprise me at all...

My trip

Seville is around 2 hours away from Malaga and with the help of Google Maps, you won't have any problems in getting there. The problem that you will have when you arrive is the problem called parking... We spent no more or less than 40 minutes looking for a space to park and we ended up parking near to the Isla Magia, a theme park (quite far from the centre). Parking in the centre is literally impossible, so if you don't want to go around by bus it is better to park in the hotel carpark (even though the price is quite expensive).

We went in February, and we stayed a night in an apartment-hotel called Patio de la Cartuja. It is in quite a good location and it was a really good price, which we got through Booking.com.

In this season it is quite cold in Seville, even though it is quite a different cold to that in Malaga, since it is a lot drier. Fortunately, we had quite good weather, with two really sunny days.

First day in Seville

After having a snack in the apartment, the first thing we did was take a map from the reception to get our bearings. What we were closest too was the Basílica de la Macarena, the most famous Virgin in Seville.

After, we went through the Alameda de Hercules, which has a great atmosphere along with lots of bars. From there, we arrived at a kind of abstract viewpoint which was called "La Seta. " We didn't go up because they charged an entry fee (except for if you are from Seville, then you can see all the monuments for free).

We kept visiting some squares whilst heading to the impressive Seville cathedral. Being winter, at this time it was almost nighttime, so we decided to visit the Torre del Oro and then go to dinner from there.

After having dinner, and as our final stop of the day, we went to see the Triana bridge. I completely recommend visiting it at night time, since it is all lit up and it is beautiful.

Second day in Seville

Today we got up really early and we went and put our things in the car. From there, we took a bus which left us really nearby to the Plaza de Espana. To sum it up in a word: incredible. I never thought that a square could be so majestic and beautiful. You can rent boats which take you around the square but they are not really worth it since they are really expensive.

After that, we went to the Maria Luisa Park. We stayed there for a while walking around until lunchtime. In the afternoon we went to visit the Alcazar, for which the entry was free on that day (Monday from 4-5pm from October till March, and from 6-7pm from April till September). It is better to go a little early, since an enormous queue forms, even though it does progress quite quickly. We practically spent the rest of the afternoon there, looking at the cathedral in the daylight.

About 6pm we headed back to Malaga, feeling really tired, but with a really good impression of Seville and wishing that we had gone to the Isla Magia theme park!
