Parque da Alameda
A park with a nice view
Santiago de Compostela is a big and old city, but it isn't made only of buildings. It also has a big beautiful and green park, called Parque da Alameda.
It is a great place to enjoy the outside, make a pic nic, go for a run and even to admire the city since there are some sightseen places in the park where you can see the cathedral and some of the university's buildings.
Also, it is an historical place. During the Spanish dictatorship, two women used to go out in the park wearing really flashy clothes as a way to protest. They were anarchists against Franco's regime. There is a statue in tribute to them in the park.
Location
The Parque da Alameda is located really near the historic centre of the city, so if you're visiting there you can get to the park walking. It is a nice place to go!
