What is it like to live in Rome? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Rome is a metropolis, very busy and sometimes chaotic. I would definitely recommend spending some time in Rome though, because it is an unique city: very international but at the same time "typical Italian", full of history, beautiful architecture, good Italian food, cultural events and concerts especially in summer and... great parties!

What is the student lifestyle like in Rome?

I think it's a broad question because it depends on the person. Anyway, life is expensive in Rome, especially the city centre which is very touristy. Despite this fact, there's plenty of student parties with special discounts and cheap happy hours with heaps of food. Also very popular is hanging out in the street squares of Rome with a beer and of course good company.

How much does it cost to live in Rome?

Life in Rome is sometimes expensive, but not much more than in any other European capital. The average price for a single room is around 400 euros, but there are also cheaper ones.

Public transport is also a bit expensive if you always but a one-way ticket. For commuters, I would recommend a monthly ticket.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Rome? Is there any advice you can give?

It is not difficult, one just has to look for groups on Facebook or specialized websites. I found a room in Rome while I was living in Germany, so everyone can do it!

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is the best. I would say pizza is great and also pasta, which are our specialities. Not to underestimate, gelato is really different from ice-cream and delicious in Rome. Roman wine is also very good and cheap if you buy it at a "mescita".

What places would you recommend visiting in Rome?

All the important buildings and churches in the city centre are worth a visit. My favourite church is Santa Maria Maggiore and my favourite square is Piazza Navona.

Is it good to eat out in Rome? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Almost everywhere you can find good food.

Is the nightlife good in Rome? Where is good to go?

To party I would go to "Testaccio", while to hang out with friends, drink some wine I would go to "Pigneto" or "San Lorenzo".

What advice would you give future students heading to Rome?

Mind your bag when travelling with public transport. And... enjoy the beauty of Rome!
