Why did you choose to go to Rome, Italy?

I came to study my Master's degree in arts and culture management. What a better place than Rome, full of art everywhere?

Nice and friendly, I think it was quite a relaxing year.

Well, to be honest despite been the capital, is not as popular as other cities for its student life.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Rome?

For me it was not. However, I had classmates who had quite a difficult time while finding a good house.

How much does it cost to live in Rome?

That would really depend on which part of the city, close to the centre is really expensive and entertainment is also expensive.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes, most universities offer language courses, and it is seriously helpful to learn at least the basics of Italian, as it is hard to find Italians who speak other languages.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Rome?

Trastevere and Testaccio were in my opinion the best areas to go out, full of edgy interesting, small clubs, also Pigneto.

For a cheap night out, I would recommend San Lorenzo or to have a drink in Piazza Cavour.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Rome?

It is easy to find great food everywhere. A slice of pizza or a trattoria. Tre Scalini was one of my favourites, or Mercato Centrale in Termini.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The whole city is a museum. Also, the small towns around Rome are quite interesting: Castel Gandolfo, Frascati, Parco Bomarzo, Bracciano, etc.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Rome in the future?

Watch out on the metro, it is really easy to get robbed without noticing, also sometimes you can be "accidentally" overcharged in some bars or restaurants so I would advise people to double check before paying.
