Erasmus Experience in Rome, Italy by Noemi

Why did you choose to go to Rome, Italy?

Well, because Italian is an easy language to learn and the exchange experience is facilitated by Erasmus.

How long does the scholarship last? How much money do you receive as financial aid?

A stipend of 1500 € was provided for the whole Erasmus experience.

What is the student atmosphere like in Rome?

It's great! There are many Erasmus students from Spain (we all knew each other).

Would you recommend the city and the University of Rome to other students?

Yes I would recommend it, however, keep in mind that the transportation around Rome using the buses is the worst.

How is the food of the country?

Great! There is PASTA AND PIZZA everywhere.

Was it difficult to find accommodation in Rome?

Yes it was very difficult. I spent two weeks looking for an apartment because the apartments being shown to us were a disaster.

How much does it cost to live in Rome?

It is quite costly in the early stages. It gets cheaper when you learn how to move and you know where to go to save money.

How about the language? Did you go to any course at the University?

The language learning went well. You learn if you want and if you try hard. Going to class is how you learn the most.

Yes, I attended a course taught by the LUMSA university itself.

What is the cheapest way to get to Rome from your city?

By plane from MADRID.

What places would you recommend to party in Rome?

Art Café, AKAB, Alien, Bosco delle Fragole, and COIN.

And to eat in Rome? Can you cite your favorite sites?

Carlomenta, Grazie e Graziella, and Monte Carlo.

And as of cultural spots?

All of them! For example, Piazza Venezia, the Coliseum, the Basilica of San Paolo, and San Pietro... SO MANY!

Is there ay advice you want to give to future students in Rome?

My advice is to have PATIENCE at first because you have a little trouble looking for a place to live and adapting to people and their language. Be independent and enjoy this incredible year where you will meet wonderful people!
