What is it like to live in Rennes? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I recommend Rennes to study (and student life too). It is a lively city, with its traditions, but it's still modern.

What is the student lifestyle like in Rennes?

Rennes is a dynamic city, it is entertainment for anybody (concerts, sports, movie theatres). There are student events like the Erasmus Nights and also free events for students (ice rink, music festivals).

How much does it cost to live in Rennes?

I live in the suburbs of Rennes, so the cost of life is not very high. However, it is not much more expensive in Rennes. For a 25 cl beer, you pay about 2, 50 € in a pub downtown.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Rennes? Is there any advice you can give?

It's not difficult. There are many accommodations for students and flats for young people. There are apartments for students and trainees only, such as "Espacil".

What is the food like? What are your favorite dishes?

You can buy local products (beer, galettes). There are supermarkets, organic supermarkets, and many restaurants in Rennes and the suburbs.

What places would you recommend visiting in Rennes?

I recommend visiting the "Eco-musée" in the South of Rennes, but there are many other places you can visit taking the train (1 hour from the sea by train). There is the Broceliande forest too.

Is it good to eat out in Rennes? Can you tell us your favorite spots?

There are many restaurants, it is possible to eat local gastronomy, as well as African, Canadian or vegetarian plates.

My favorite spot is the "PoutineBros", a Canadian restaurant where food is cooked in front of you.

Is the nightlife good in Rennes? Where is good to go?

There are many pubs in Rennes and nice places to drink a beer. They are open until 1 or 2 am. There are some night clubs like the "1988 Live Club", where they sometimes host free music sessions.

What advice would you give future students heading to Rennes?

If you don't find any accommodations in Rennes, you can find somewhere else (Saint-Jacques, Bruz). The rent could be less expensive and there are many buses and metro stations.
