Why did you choose to go to Rennes, France?
Because I had already very good references. That's a great city with lovely atmosphere and yes, it is completely true.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
Well it depends on the country, me I had 320 euro per month. It was pretty ok, I paid 100 for accomodation, in the dormitory and I gave private lessons so I earned a little bit beside.
What is the student lifestyle like in Rennes?
Rennes is wonderful city, charming, full of students. Oh la la, there is La Rue de la Soif, where all the students are coming on Thursday night. Sometimes it is too crazy there.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Rennes to other students?
Sure, I would, the region, the city, the university, Breton people are amazing.
You have to go there, there is no question.
What is the food like?
Galette - salty pancakes, so delicious...
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Rennes?
No, I got the dormitory without any problem.
How much does it cost to live in Rennes?
For sure, ask for that location bonus, it helped me a lot and I did not pay so much for the accomodation.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
I was studying French language so no problem. There were evening courses of French language, so it was great. We spent nice time there, and we mix a little bit with other Erasmus students.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Rennes from your city?
I took a bus because I had too many thing and with the plane it would be a problem so I had direct bus from Trencin to Rennes, great.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Rennes?
There are lovely small bars, you have to try.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Rennes?
Galletes, crepes and do not forget to visit on Saturday the traditional charming market.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
All the peninsula Britany is beautiful, you have to travel there around. We did a lot of hitch-hiking, it was excellent.
I really enjoyed it a lot.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Rennes in the future?
Be crazy, do hitch hiking, people are lovely, you will see a lot of places and do not sit, do a lot of sports. For 20 euros for a semester you can do all kind of sports, that was amazing.
