Rent was fair enough and living expenses was not way too costly.

Yes there are language courses and its easy to grip, keep practicing.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Rennes from your city?

None. I came from india.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Rennes?

Saint Anne

None. I'm a vegetarian

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Rennes in the future?

Just try to grasp the language and learn to cook for youreself. Study is great here. Try to also be a part of some sports group.
