Why did you choose to go to Ratisbona, Alemania?

I wanted to improve my German, but English as well. The University in Regensburg offers courses in German and English. My friends recommended me the city and I recommend that to you.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

For Czech students it should be around 405€ monthly, for 1 semester.

What is the student lifestyle like in Ratisbona?

There are lots of students. It is a student city. Also there are lots of pubs in the centre.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Ratisbona to other students?

Of course, I recommend. We were 250 Erasmus students. Like a big family. We had lots of parties there, fun and events. The University provides for Erasmus students 6 weeks of intensive language course of German. There are courses in English and German. There are also some US professors in Faculty of economy. The courses with them are really very interesting. But if you study national economy, like me, be prepare for econometrics courses.

What is the food like?

Very rich, tasty, lots of meat or lots of sweat.

How did you find your accommodation?

International student office takes care about that. No problem.

What are the accommodation prices like? What are prices like for other things in general?

cca. 220€ monthly. Using wash machines 1€

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

As I wrote upper, it is no problem.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Ratisbona from your city?

I really recommend mitfahrgelegenheit.de to travel in Germany. It is car sharing, cheap and fast. If you are group, use train and group Bayernticket. I travelled from Slovakia long time by buses and trains.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Ratisbona?

Disco pubs: Suite 15 (alternative music) or Suzie Wong (commerce and hits) other pubs: Carlitos (cocktail bar), Murphy's Law (popular Irish pub),...

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Ratisbona?

In the centre there is a very good Italian restaurant with very big pizza (for 2 people). But I dont remember the name :-/

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Some museums of history in Regensburg, Dult fest (like Oktoberfest),...

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Ratisbona in the future?

For example for summer semester it is nice to buy bike. Lots of students use bikes. And before leaving you can sell it.
