Poco Loco has been one of my favourite restaurants during my stay in Tenerife. It’s a Mexican restaurant with a lot of charm and atmosphere, when you enter you feel like being in Mexico a bit. It’s a bit up the hill in Puerto de la Cruz and in order to enter you have to go down a small street which leads directly to the restaurant.
When you enter you go through a brick stone arch and reach the outdoor area. It’s constituted by small colourful tables and a lot of different kinds of chairs – there is hardly one chair similar to the other. Inside it’s the same thing. There is one area which is completely closed and good for colder days, and another area which is kind of a closed terrace and also very nice to have dinner. The decoration inside is full of Spanish posters, old things from Mexico and retro stuff which creates a wonderful atmosphere.
The dishes are all quite similar – most of the time it’s beef or chicken with vegetables and tree kinds of sauces: cheese, chili and guacamole. They only change the kind of bread or sometimes the amount of vegetables, but all dishes (I had the possibility to try a lot of them) are delicious and a lot! Most of the time we went there, the problem was that we had ordered too much and in the end we could hardly move. There’s so much cheese everywhere!
There’s also a drink special – one liter of margarita for 16 euros. There you can also chose out of three flavours: Summer, Strawberry and Lemon. Of course, we tried all three of them and they are great! And the price is incredible.
So even if you are in Spain, you can have a small idea about Mexico and Latin America when you go there and enjoy a dinner. They are always very friendly and it’s just great to eat there. Furthermore, in relation to the amount of food you get there, the prices are really good and fair.
