Experience in Puebla, Mexico by Dani
What is it like to live in Puebla? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Living in Puebla is wonderfull, we have so many great restaurants of great food, I´ve been to many states in Mexico but nothing like Puebla´s gastronomy, definitely the best one. The weather is amazing, you can have a really sunny day to chill out and wear nice summer clothes, and in winter we can have a chilly day that you can enjoy with a nice cup of chocolate.
What is the student lifestyle like in Puebla?
The student lifestyle in Puebla is really great! We have students from all over the country, and we get also many exchange students, so there´s a variety of people, you can find a person that´s into nightclubs, or you can find a person who´s willing to go to watch a great movie or go to a museum.
How much does it cost to live in Puebla?
Well, the costs always vary, depending on what you are looking for, in Cholula, is way cheaper the rents of a room or a flat, you can spend $6000 (Mexican pesos) in a nice room with all the services, you can always find cheaper. Food is really cheap also, like in all places making your own meals is always cheaper, if you want to go to a nice restaurant you can spend $200 -$450, there's also food stands that you can have a huge quesadilla for $20 pesos or less.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Puebla? Is there any advice you can give?
It´s not really that hard, you just have to know where you want to live and look in the area. My advice is to rent a flat or a room in Cholula, it´s a really nice area full of students. Or if you want something fancier and more expensive Lomas de Angelópolis, but you´ll need a car there.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
The food here in Puebla, as I said is one of the best, we have the best "enchiladas de mole", "chile en nogada", and there´s also a couple of really good traditional candies.
In Cholula we have great restaurants, pizza places, nice bars, really cheap beer, you can find a bottle from $15 (Mexican pesos) till $30.
What places would you recommend visiting in Puebla?
- The Cathedral of Puebla city is really nice
- Cholula Pyramids, with the Church on the top
- Cuetzalan
- Zacatlán de las Manzanas, best cheese bread ever
- Cholula Center

Is the nightlife good in Puebla? Where is good to go?
There´s a lot of places you can go out, you can go to Lomas de Angelopolis and there you can find a lot of bars and restaurants, there you can find a beer for $30 (mexican pesos), Isla de Angelopolis, there´s 3 nightclubs that you can go to, and of course, Cholula 14 street full of bars and nightclubs.
