What is the student lifestyle like in Poitiers?

Every Thursdays, the center is full of students but the weekends there is no one, everybody comes back home. And in Winter, nobody goes outside so it's kind of "dead".

How much does it cost to live in Poitiers?

Poitiers is less expensive than many French cities, The cost of accommodation is approximately 200€ and the food around 50€, I think it's 250€ for the bus (for a year) you can rent a bike (9€ per month).

Go to the CROUS of Poitiers, it's a place only for students who are looking for accommodation, you have to register online before.

What places would you recommend visiting in Poitiers?

The center with Marie, many old buildings. There are a lot of gardens.

Is it good to eat out in Poitiers? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There are many RU (Restaurants Universitaires) on the campus, where the food is cheap (3. 20€ per meal), the food is good, the quantities are enough (in my opinion) there are many RU so you can find one close to your university.

Is the nightlife good in Poitiers? Where is good to go?

Not really, in the beginning, every Thursday there will be a party. The bar Est-West is pretty famous, really noisy. Then when winter comes, there are less and less people outside. And during the weekends there is no one, everyone goes back home.

What advice would you give future students heading to Poitiers?

If you want to find French buddies, try to make the "first-move", tell them you're an Erasmus student and you want to find some friends, we are not mean, we will accept you and try to integrate you.
