Paris, the City of Light

I've been to Paris lots of times and I wanted to share my favourite places in the capital with you. It's a big city, and it's useful to know a few good spots.

Where to wander

-Montmatre: the cathedral is superb and the view over Paris is amazing

-Around the Eiffel Tower

-From the Champs Elysées to the Louvre

-The "Ile de la Cité"

Where to go shopping

- The Châtelet district (with covered markets) and the Marais district where there are many small vintage shops.

What to visit

-The Louvre: free for students, this museum is huge and rich in culture; everyone can find their thing here. If you like history or art, the Louvre will be a pleasure. On the other hand, it is impossible to see everything in one go - you have to choose the places you particularly want to visit in advance. Personally, I really liked the exhibition on Ancient Egypt.

-The Musée d'Orsay: this musuem is also very large, and contains mostly classical paintings.

-The Georges Pompidou Centre: if you like modern art, I'd recommend heading here. The building itself is very orignal with all its pipes.

-The Holocaust Museum: about the Second World War - very well done and very moving.

Night life

-If you like techno music, I recommend "La Concrète": it's pretty original - the club is on a barge! It's really nice to have a drink on a terrace overlooking the Seine. It's located close to the "Gare de Lyon".

-Le glazart, which can be found near the district "La Villette"

-Le badaboum, which is near the Bastille district

If you're just after a drink, the districts of Chatelet and Bastille are really nice, with lots of Happy Hours.
