My Experience in Paris by Léa
What is the student atmosphere in Paris like?
That depends on the district.
I can speak for my area: in the 6th arrondissement (the ultimate student district, along with the 5th arrondissement), there are students everywhere and lots of cafés where you can meet people.
What's the food like in the city? What are your favourite dishes?
There's a bit of everything: "traditional" restaurants, bistros with daily specials or quick meals (meat/chips), foreign restaurants (Moroccan, Asian, Lebanese and so on), and of course the eternal fast food restaurants.
I prefer the potato and beef dishes that you can find in any French restaurant.
What places do you recommend visiting in Paris?
The "Île de la Cité", the Tuileries Garden and the Louvre, whose architecture is simply magnificent, as well as Place St Sulpice and its church (in one of the streets which links this square with the Tuileries Garden, you can read Rimbaud's poem "Bateau ivre" on the walls).
The fountain in Place St Michel.
Can you tell us your favourites spots to eat in Paris?
Rue Vavin is full of little restaurants (usually take-away - you can eat in the nearby Luxembourg Gardens), and I would also recommend the area around Place St Michel.
For students, le Crois is the university canteen; you pay 3.20 euros for a meal and you can find one in the Odeon and Mabillon metro stations and Port-Royal train station. Voilà!
