Why did you chose to go to Paris, France?

Studying there is free for foreigners and I also love French culture.

How long will you stay for? What is the amount of financial aid that you receive?

My plan is to stay in Paris until I finish my Masters. At the moment I am in my third year, so I have been in Paris for just a little over two years now. I receive about 200 euros a month from CAF (Caisse d'Allocations Familiales).

What is the student atmosphere like in Paris?

The student atmosphere is simply great! There are so many student associations in all areas, in art, in sport; etc. Events are organised regularly and everybody is always smiley and willing to get to know you.

Would you recommend going to university in the city of Paris to other students?

I strongly recommend to everyone who has the opportunity to come and study in Paris to do it!

What is the food like there?

Above all, the restaurants in Paris are quite pricey, but personally I am quite happy with the choice of food in the university restaurants and the price there is reasonable too.

Did you have any difficulty finding housing in Paris?

I had quite a few problems finding a place to live in Paris due to the fact that I am from a country which is not part of the European Union, but it is far from being impossible.

What is the cost of living in Paris?

The cost of living is very expensive in Paris, but fortunately, you can find lots of good student deals at museums, cinemas and concerts etc.

How is it going learning the language? Have you been to the language classes organised by the university?

You have to have a minimum level of French to be able to follow the classes in that language. My university (Paris VI) organises French classes for the non-francophone (french-speaking) students.

What is the cheapest way to get between Paris and your home town?

Low cost airlines like Wizz Air, for example.

What places would you recommend for partying in Paris?

Rue Mouffetard, Bastille, Oberkampf, Canal Saint-Martin.

And for grabbing food? What are your favourite places?

Having a picnic in Jardin de Luxembourg or on the embankments.

What cultural visits do you recommend?

Zénith for concerts, musée d'Orsay (art museum), le Louvre (art museum), Centre George Pompidou, musée de Picasso (museum), musée de Rodin (museum).

A piece of advice for future students who go to Paris?

Don't forget to study;)
