Why did you choose to go to Paris, France?

Firstly, the programme is a specialization and Paris is the hub of international arbitration. Secondly, Paris is a great city to live in and there are plenty of opportunities to broaden your network. Thirdly, the University has lots of partnerships with other schools and libraries. That can be a huge benefit.

What is the student lifestyle like in Paris?

Paris is wonderful in every sense of the term. I actually chose the Paris campus over London. There is always something to do and for every budget. Also, France is the only country to assist with rental payment (CAF).

Would you recommend the city and the University of Paris to other students?

Yes! Definitely!

What is the food like?

I had prepared a long list before leaving home. I haven’t even started with my list because I keep coming across other amazing places! Lots of people will complain about the food not being exceptional but, I am not one of them.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Paris?

I applied months in advance. I researched on Universities and accommodation simultaneously. I applied for accommodation as soon as I received my offer letter. It took 7 months to process my application.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I took the A1 level French course at the AF before coming to Paris, so the language was not completely new.

There are options to learn in Paris of course.

The French appreciate when you try to speak even if it is very little and they can be very nice about it.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Paris from your city?

The train or bus. Bus takes longer but you get to see the city. Train is faster.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Paris?

Pigalle has plenty of options.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Paris?

Karamel at Invalides is my favourite. It’s a coffee shop and the people there are just the nicest.

St.Michel has lots of options too.

Angelina has the best chocolate but everyone knows that.

Malabar at Invalides

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

There are so many options and so many offers if you are below 28.

The Petit Palais, Musée d’orsay and Opéra Garnier are a few.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Paris in the future?

Plan in advance and have a checklist with buffer time. Plan atleast 7-8 months in advance. Also, contact current students. They can be immensely helpful.
