Experience in Paris, France by Lola
What is it like to live in Paris? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Well I have only been living in Paris for 3 weeks so Paris is all very new to me.
What I can say is that Paris is a beautiful city, very easy to meet people, so many things to see and so many things to eat!
I would definitely recommend Paris if your a city-lover like my-self and love the hustle & bustle.
What is the student lifestyle like in Paris?
As an intern living in Paris, I don't quite share the same experiences as students. My social group is a little bit older, and the things we get up to is probably slightly more refined, lol.
However, from what I have heard from friends who study here in Paris, the student lifestyle rocks! Being one of the most multicultural cities in the world, you get to meet students from all over the world. Paris also offers one of the best nightlife scenes for students in areas such as the Latin Quarter, Les Invalides and Oberkampf.
How much does it cost to live in Paris?
Paris, as you would expect is very expensive. From food to transportation your bound to end up spending big bucks while your here. I would recommend to any potential students planning on studying or working in Paris to save some money before you leave! Trust me, it makes life so much easier when you have some savings.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Paris? Is there any advice you can give?
Oh la la, where do I begin?! Finding accommodation in Paris is like finding a needle in a haystack. It's not that there are a lack of places but that there is way too much competition from others in your position. If your picky like me then finding somewhere to live may take a while, but hang in there and be patient! After all, you don't want your experience abroad being tarnished by the fact that your in horrible living conditions!
Sites like apparter.com, leboncoin.fr and colocation.fr are really good sites for finding flatshares in Paris.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Paris is definitely a hotspot for foodies, with everything imaginable right under your nose.
I wouldn't say that I have a favourite dish but I do love particular foods like french brie, the baguettes, crepes and they do the best jam in the world!
What places would you recommend visiting in Paris?
Chatelet! Literally everything is there.
