What is the student lifestyle like in Paris?

Paris is a big city, there are something like 13 universities, along with all the specialized schools... So there are a lot of students here! A lot of foreign students choose to come here on exchange programs, so you can meet people from all around the world.

How much does it cost to live in Paris?

A lot, unfortunately...

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Paris? Is there any advice you can give?

It can be quite difficult if you don't know where to look. But it's never impossible, I managed to find two apartments, each time just across the street from my university!

What is the food like?

I'm French so I'm not that impartial... But who doesn't like French food?

What places would you recommend visiting in Paris?

Of course there are all the touristic places... But when you stay here for a while, you discover places a lot more authentic, and it's the best. I love the Georges Pompidou museum and walking on the quais de Seine. I used to live next to the Luxembourg garden and I love it!

Is it good to eat out in Paris? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

It is really good! I love the tiny restaurant "La Cachette", I used to practically live here since my apartment was across the street. Yoom, a dim sum restaurant, is also great (it's in the 5th arrondissement). Chez Joséphine, place du marché Sainte-Catherine.

Is the nightlife good in Paris? Where is good to go?

The nightlife is great, the only problem is the metro : it closes pretty early in the night so you will have to come back home in taxi every time (or with the vélibs! ). Depends on what you like, Bastille is great. Odéon/ Saint Germain. Nuba/Wanderlust. Le Perchoir. Or around the Champs Elysées if you are looking for classy clubs.

What advice would you give future students heading to Paris?

Enjoy! Paris is great!
