What is it like to live in Paris? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Well living in Paris is quite different from living in Bogota, Colombia. Paris is a world city. The public transportation is quite impressive. Museums and culture are everywhere and also be prepared because the metro smells awful. Also, many people don't know what deodorant is. But overall, it is quite a beautiful city and so far I'm in love with it.

What is the student lifestyle like in Paris?

It is very student friendly, actually! You have discounts in museums (when is not free, and many activities.
It has been a bit difficult to me to interact with other people at my Uni, I feel parisians and european people are quite closed and cold sometimes. But hey! I've met some amazing people here.

How much does it cost to live in Paris?

It is quite expensive. Let's say a lunch in a Brasserie is around 12-13 euros. Also the accommodation is not cheap at all.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Paris? Is there any advice you can give?

It is HELLA difficult. If you want an appartment, you'll have to find a garant who s salary is at least 3 times the price of the accomodation.
Student residencies are full, and it's difficult to get a little room.
I advice you start looking for accomodation at least 1 month before coming, but you can also arrive here, couchsurf for a week and in the meantime look for a permanent place to live (a friend did this).

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Bruh. Food is bae here even if it's quite expensive. You can find everything. Sushi, curry, filet,... But my favourite will always be the Kebab at 4 am after going out with friends.

What places would you recommend visiting in Paris?

Definitely the Louvre museum, the Orsay one too. But be sure to go to le Canal St Martin on the evening for a nice soirée or St Michel.

Is it good to eat out in Paris? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yup, definitely good.
Favourite spots... Uhm there's a brasserie near Blanche which is not quite expensive. Or near St Michel. Also. Kebab. Please.

Is the nightlife good in Paris? Where is good to go?

Hmmm well, I am Colombian and parties are nothing like latino parties back in Latin America.
People are wasted, dancing to techno and I don't quite enjoy that tbh.

What advice would you give future students heading to Paris?

HAVE FUN. be yourself. Don't be shy (quite a big mistake I made when I first got here), parisians look intimidating. But don't be afraid to drop a Salut to one of your classmates.
