What is it like to live in Paris? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Paris is like almost any other city. Life here has the same flavor as life elsewhere. Parisiens are members of the human condition, so people here as a group are indistinct from people elswhere.

Paris is however as very convenient place to practice reading, writing, and speaking French, largely becuase it is in France.

What is the student lifestyle like in Paris?

That depends on the student.

How much does it cost to live in Paris?

Rent is rarely less than 600 euros per month. All other things are unsettlingly expensive.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Paris? Is there any advice you can give?

That depends on one's luck. I would recommend the use of airbnb.com. I've looked into apart-hotels and some student residences, These have generally been pretty expensive and pretty complicated.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

I prepare most of my own food. However, In Paris as in most big cities there are plenty of places to buy expensive, but wonderful food. My favorite dishes were probably those which my hosts prepared while I was housed with them for a class.

What places would you recommend visiting in Paris?

Visit the Louvre. It's worth doing. Arrive very early to avoid lines and devote an entire day at least to the endeavor.

Is it good to eat out in Paris? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

I have no idea.

Is the nightlife good in Paris? Where is good to go?

Not especially. There are clubs here and there is a bar scene as is the case wherever there are students. Clubs and bars in Paris are like clubs and bars anywhere else. In my opinion Parisien nightlife is a function of the company one keeps.

What advice would you give future students heading to Paris?

That depends on the students and their purposes in visiting Paris.
