Why did you choose to go to Paris, France?

Because my course is a cuisine diploma and there is no better place to study about food than the gastronomic capital of the world, Paris.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I did not receive a scholarship.

What is the student lifestyle like in Paris?

It's a hard life as prices for daily life is very high. Good food and accommodation is expensive. The basics are extremely expensive. But it's a beautiful city. If you do not know French fluently everything is ten times harder. Even making friends. Do not underestimate the effect the language barrier has on everything because I did.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Paris to other students?

Yes if you know French fluently. If you don't, think twice.

What is the food like?

French food itself is beautiful. But Asian food is very hard to find and if you're from Asia n used to hearty meals, the French concept of meals is very different. The only affordable food is sandwiches and salads for students. Other than that you have to cook your own food if you're on a budget.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Paris?

460 because I stay at the YWCA. It's called Union Chretienne Jeune Fille.

How much does it cost to live in Paris?

To live a decent life, it will be 800 Euros a month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The language is one of the easier languages because it is written in English. But you have to be good at picking up languages.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Paris from your city?

I live in Bangalore. So the most economical way would be a flight.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Paris?

Led deux magots, charlie birdy, LA plomb du cantal, breakfast in america, w for wok, zimmer, cafe DuPont.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Catacombs, jardin du Luxembourg, moulin rouge (pigalle), canal saint martin, Champs Elysée, L'arc De triomphe, Pierre Herme

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Paris in the future?

Prepare to live a hard life as a student, but if you learn French well, it's a stunning city. If you have a good place to live n know the language, you will never want to leave. But it is expensive. The city will amaze you.
