Erasmus Experience in Paris, France by Rose
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
I get around 400 euro a month from erasmus and around 4,000 (total) from student loans.
What is the student lifestyle like in Paris?
Pricey but good craic
What is the food like?
Like any big city, there's French food if you like it but also Chinese, sushi, Mexican, whatever you want.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Paris?
No
How much does it cost to live in Paris?
About 600 in rent, 100euro a week at least for expenses
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Paris from your city?
Eurostar from UK
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Paris?
Nights out are expensive, young French people go to bars more than clubs. 10-15 euro entry for clubs standard.
Main clubs we go to are Rex, alimentation general, wanderlust...
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Paris in the future?
1.You'll need more money than you think.
2.Getting your own flat as a foreign student is ridiculous, you need two French guarantors for most legit apartments. Try and flatshare with some people who don't mind so much about paperwork.
I couldn't find a flatshare and live in an Airbnb - not a bad option if you book early and get the cheap ones, I pay 600 euro, it's no fuss and you're more protected by Airbnb policy than French bureaucracy if anything goes wrong.
