How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

1 year so far. Full subsistence (travel, food and accommodation).

What is the student lifestyle like in Paris?

I start studying this Summer so ask me again in August

Would you recommend the city and the University of Paris to other students?

Definitely... Learning French is exciting. I like the people, open and honest. The culture is amazing.

What is the food like?

I am getting fat.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Paris?

No... Covered.

How much does it cost to live in Paris?

You can get a studio from 700. But it's best to get a roommate if you plan to be here long term. You can rent a bigger place together.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?

Not at first. French is beautiful but phonetically harder than Spanish because the verb conjugation and speech patterns can be tricky. Yes. There are many French courses on in the Summer. I recommend Alliance Francaise and the Sorbonne.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Paris from your city?

Metro.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Paris?

Spoilt for choice. Whatever you are into, you can get it in Paris

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Paris?

You can't go wrong by being adventurous. French cuisine is amazing.

I repeat.... I am getting fat.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

  • La Defense - modern architecture
  • Louvre
  • Sacre Coeur - Montmarte
  • Notre Dame
  • The Latin Quarter
  • Le Marais - shopping
  • Bastille - Very good for restaurants
  • Arc de Triomphe
  • d'Orsay Museum
  • Pere-Lachaise Cemetery

But the best experience by far is walking around your neighbourhood.

Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Paris?

Be open-minded and willing to assimilate. Parisians love it when you attempt to learn French and they will be patient with you. Walk around alot.... get to know the city... You will love it. Start practicing French as soon as you get here. Even if it's just one word.

Prices are better than London but not New York.
