Why did you choose to go to Paris, France?

It is the capital of fashion, art and French culture. This opportunity was also a way to open doors in another country. I had done a summer design course there and enjoyed both the city and teaching so much I wished to gain more experience from that university based in Paris.

What is the student lifestyle like in Paris?

Busy, intense, structures and very efficient teaching. The fellow exchange students were very friendly and the school was extremely welcoming. Students had opportunities to travel, intern at Paris fashion week and show their work in a gallery at the end of term. We also went on field trips to various museums and Premier Vision (the annual textile fair). There was also workshops run by WGSN and guest speakers such as Christian Louboutin who gave talks.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Paris to other students?

Yes, very much

What is the food like?

Great, especially the bakeries

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes, they offer several different levels of French to all student. Note that the classes are mostly in English, but it is very useful as the French we learn relates to the discipline we are studying (e.g. Fashion).

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, Centre de Pompidou, Palais de Tokyo, Effile Tower, Champs D'Elysees, Jardins des Tulleries, Jardin Luxembourg, etc.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Paris in the future?

Have a thick skin, living in Paris can be nerve racking at times but very worthwhile.
