Why did you decide to go to Paris, France?

To build on my knowledge of French. There were only exchange agreements between my home university and Paris or Marseille.

How long do you get a grant for? How much money do you receive?

The grant was for 9 months. I received around €80-90.

What is the student life in Paris like?

Exciting, dynamic, varied, culturally shaped, historical, safe...

Would you recommend the city and the University of Paris to other students?

It is recommendable as there are lots of subjects and courses available to choose from (also at different universities).

In addition, there are plenty of available student halls and there are lots of sports on offer (depending on the university). The libraries are very useful for studying.

What is the national cuisine like?

It is definitely better than in Germany even in the uni canteen...

How did you find your accommodation?

I was placed in a student flat.

What is the price of accommodation like? And the prices in general?

The prices in the outskirts of Paris are similar to those in Germany. It is definitely more expensive in the center of Paris.

Is it easy to understand the language? Does the university offer language courses?

There were courses at uni in Germany in order to prepare and there were also courses in Paris.

What is the cheapest way to get from Paris to your hometown?

Carpool, closely followed by train (doesn't take long and good rates for students etc).

In your opinion, where is the best place to party in Paris?

Student parties in the "Cité Universitaire", on one of the 2 party boats near the center.

And to eat? Can you recommend a few good restaurants in Paris?

Nos ancètre les Gaulois on the Ile Saint Louis, etc.

Are there interesting cultural sights?

Musée d'Orsay, Louvre, Theater, les Catacombes, Versailles...

Do you have any other tips for other students going to Paris in the future?

I definitely recommend the "Cité Universitaire" and you should get there early in order to get a spot!
