The city of Pardubice

When I was applying for Erasmus, that's the first time I heard of a small city called Pardubice located in Czech Republic. Just one hour from Prague by train, it looked convenient for my Erasmus destination. City is quite small but you have everything you need. There is a big shopping center called "Palac", there are few pharmacies, Lidl, Interspar, gas stations, 3 cinemas, five or six clubs and a lot of bars. Also, there is one beautiful big park where you can just chill, run or hang out with people. Dormitory is just across the lake, so if you'll be in my dormitory you can watch the lake and swans. There is a cute castle and the old city part where you can see peacocks just walking by. Old city is very charming. If you're going in the summer semester, which I recommend, you can rent a bike and drive around. Pardubice is known for a large bike ride ratio. Sometimes we would just sit next to the river and play guitar, saxophone and have a great time. Pardubice is one hour by train from Prague, so you can go whenever you want. If you want to party or just see beautiful Prague, go to the main railway station which is 15 min by walking from dormitory. You can go to everything you need by walking in Pardubice, but if you want to use the bus, student ticket for 3 or 6 months is really approachable. There are a lot of cute bars and cafes, like for example "Bajer", "Maybe" or "Galerie cafe". Prices of food in malls are okay, drinks are also cheap, so your scholarship should cover basic things like food, dormitory rent, going out and stuff like that. Pardubice is a great location for travelling around. You have a small airport from which you can go to London for less than 15 euros, also you can go to Spain and Russia by plane. Bratislava and Slovakia is just 3 hours from Pardubice, 2.5 from Dresden and 4 from Berlin. Czech Republic is in the middle of the Europe so you can go anywhere. Also, you have a great czech travelling comapany called "RegioJet" which has really cheap tickets for train and bus. I think choosing smaller city for your Erasmus destination is great because the Erasmus community is more involved, buddies were great, you have a lot of activites like pub crawl, hiking trips, paintball trips and a lot more.
