What is it like to live in Pardubice? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

The city is quite different from other cities in the Czech Republic. it is newly renovated, there are many beautiful parks over here, the river Elbe alongside which you can chill and there are also many restaurants and coffee shops (many many :D), pubs with traditional Czech beer ( two coming from Pardubice) and bike roads everywhere!

What is the student lifestyle like in Pardubice?

It used to be better since many clubs went bankrupt due to the pandemic, but there are still pubs, bars and clubs in the campus. There are dorms available both for local and exchange students or it is frequent that students stay in flats.

How much does it cost to live in Pardubice?

It's not too pricy compared to Prague for instance, but it is not cheap either. It is usually 4-6k CZK for a single room.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Pardubice? Is there any advice you can give?

It is not difficult. The students can choose from dorms to rooms to whole flats.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is not very traditional apart from Pardubice's perník (gingerbread) which is typical for the city. There are many restaurant ranging from typical Czech food (sauces, meat, salty dumplings, goulash or soups) to Thai, Chinese, Italian, Indian food, there are also some bio vegetarian or vegan and gluten free restaurants or those who want to cook local. And of course, many fast foods.

What places would you recommend visiting in Pardubice?

Kunětická hora, Labe, Zámeček, Renaissance Pardubice chateau, Tyršovy sady, Bubeníkovy sady (parks) or you can go outside of Pardubice a bit further south and take a look at Seč (lake) or Železné hory (mountains)

Is it good to eat out in Pardubice? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

It is great! There are two Mexican restaurants, one of them is excellent (Hacienda Ranchero), then there is the Pizzeria Dušičkovi, an Indian restaurant on the Pernštýnské square, coffeeshop Bajer or for those who eat vegetarian or gluten-free there is Špalda or Pohanka

Is the nightlife good in Pardubice? Where is good to go?

I would suggest Maybe on Náměstí Republiky, Road Café, Prostě bar (night club) and in the campus, there is Áčko or DydyBaba

What advice would you give future students heading to Pardubice?

Don't be worried about the size of the town, there are many restaurants, coffeeshops and other places to go, or if you wish, you can go to Hradec Králové (20-30 minutes by bus) or Prague (50 -60 minutes by train)
