Experience in Palma de Mallorca, Spain by Rosario
What is it like to live in Palma de Mallorca? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
It's very refreshing especially during the months of good weather because there are beaches very close. The city has some historic monuments which are very nice. As for Young people, it is a nice city to live because there are a lot of things to do there, like going to bars, good party, going to the beach, excursions to the mountains and many other things.
One of the advantages is that because Mallorca is an small island everything is close you can visit many other parts of the island.
What is the student lifestyle like in Palma de Mallorca?
The only one problem for students is that the university is a bit far away, but you can take public transport or by car.
For the rest, the student lifestyle is fun. Young people often go to bars or restaurant with their friends, and party at late night in for example Paseo Maritimo. Is also a good place to do sports, it's very flat so you can run or bike easily during many kilometres. The beach and the sea offer many fun activities for students such as wáter sports, boat parties or just to relax.
How much does it cost to live in Palma de Mallorca?
Flats to rent are not cheap, you just have to look well.
As for food, you can find things for a good price. Restaurants are not very expensive either, and night clubs are a bit more expensive(10-15€), but you can always look for special days or offers.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
There is a lot of varieties of food in Palma. You can find any type of food you like.
As for the typical dishes, you can not live without trying an ensaimada or a cuarto with a nice glass of ice cream or a cup of hot chocolate in Can Joan des Aigo.
Paella is also very good, you can also try tumbet, which is a mix of vegetables with potato and tomato sauce, and the mallorquina soup, cocarrois, etc
To me, the best is the sweet such as ensaimada, crespells, rabiols.
