Experience in Padua, Italy by Sebas

What was living in Padua like? Would you recommend living there to others?

It seemed like quite a pretty and calm place to live, where there are many possibilities to do activities and art to discover.

The hours, compared to Spain, are more limited and different, and with some people it is harder to integrate yourself because they're more reserved, but once that's sorted, it's a lovely place.

What is the student atmosphere like in Padua?

It's very active and social once you've gotten integrated. You could say that once you start living there, you acquire a great cultural richness.

How much does it cost to live in Padua?

Approximately 20% more than Spain.

Was it hard to find a place to live in Padua? Could you give any advice?

No, but you have to look quite a bit to find a well-priced place, normally this means you have to share in rooms of twos or threes. Cheap places can also be far away from the centre, something I don't recommend as much of student life takes place in the centre.

What is the food like in Padua? What are some of your favourite dishes?

The food is of a higher quality than that of Spain, but you don't eat as well as in Spain. At a student level, everyone cooks what they have, which in 90% of cases, is pasta. If you go to a restaurant, around 8 of the first 11 dishes are pasta, but the quality of the pasta is very good, and if you like to eat different foods, you can find the same products that are in Spain. My favourite dishes are Carbonara, Pasticcio, Sicilian pasta, and Milanese veal.

Where would you recommend visiting in Padua?

Prato della Valle, the Sant'Antonio cathedral, and the bank of the river.

Where would you recommend eating out in Padua? Can you tell of some of your favourite places?

You can find cheap places where you can eat well, but I don't particularly remember the names of the places.

Where would you recommend for going out in Padua?

The Fistombar, The Sherwood, and various parties and festivals around the town and student houses. Some bars close around 12, but there are a few which close at 2, and some close as late as 4, although this is rare if you live far from the centre.

Any advice you'd give to future students in Padua?

Sign up to all possible social gatherings, as that is where you get to really know the culture of the place.
