Experience in Padua, Italy by Cristiana

What is life like in Padua? Would you recommend it?

Life here in Padua is calm. In the centre of town, you can get around easily, there are lots of places to eat, shops, supermarkets, and monuments like the Palazzo della Ragione (palace), the Bo palace which you can visit, in which there is the famous Galileo Galilei catwalk. He was taught anatomy directly on corpses. There is also Prato della Valle in all its splendor.

What is the student atmosphere like in Padua?

It's very good. There are lots of students who gather in front of the university to have a drink or a chat. There are also many international students. The Bo is among the best universities in Italy for economics, law, and maths above all.

How much does it cost to live in Padua?

It depends. In the centre, apartments are more expensive but some further out are more feasible. I live in the Sacra Famiglia area near the centre, and my house was bought for around 200, 000 euros. The shops and food costs are average.

Is it difficult to find a place to live in Padua? Could you offer any advice?

No, it's not difficult. If you're just looking for a room for you, there's new university accommodation around the station and the classrooms.

Others may need to contact the estate agents if finding a place to live proves difficult.

What's the food like there? What are some of your favourite dishes?

The food is the best. Personally I don't eat typically Italian food, but I know that they're all the best.

In your opinion, what are some of the places you should visit in Padua?

Like I said before - the centre, Palazzo della Ragione, Prato della Valle and the botanical gardens (l'Orto Botanico).

When dining out in Padua, where are some of your favourite places to eat?

La Vecchia Padova, the best self service at the best price. The pizza restaurant Pepen and those in Piazza dei Signori, where you can eat great spaghetti with clams.

Which places would you recommend going out in Padua?

The city centre.

What advice would you give to future visitors in Padua?

Have a short stay in Padua and have and have a lovely holiday in Venice. I'd advise coming by train if you're Italian and if not, come to Venice Marco Polo airport, which is closest to Padua. We await you!
