(Padua)

Why did you choose to go to Padua, Italy?

Italy was always my first choice. I made some research about the best universities in Italy and with good feedback from Erasmus Students. Quickly, I realised Padua was the one and only choice. The fact that it's not a big city and the departments are all together and had such amazing numbers in terms of students who loved their experience in Padua.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

Portugal isn't very efficient about the scholarships. Since I was a student of the biggest university in Portugal and had many students in Erasmus, I knew it would be complicated. I was in Padua from October to February. I only received a scholarship for 4 months (total of 1200 euros) in the end of December.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Padua to other students?

Of course! Whether if you're looking for an academic experience or a party experience, I definitely recommend Padua.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Padua?

It was hard finding accommodation since I didn't get in a residence, mostly because no one wants to rent a room to Erasmus students or for one semester.

How much does it cost to live in Padua?

You can find a nice single room from 175 euros and a double room from 250 euros.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes! The university offers one Italian course after you take a test to see in what level you are.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Padua from your city?

Everyone has a bike, inclusive there's a black market for it.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Padua?

Factory and Fishmarket are the two discos where ESN Padua organizes most nights.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Padua in the future?

Save some money before you come because ESN organizes so many events and trips that I wish I could go but I couldn't afford all, and to travel in and around Italy!
