Erasmus Experience in Padova, Italy
How long was your scholarship? How much grant money did you get?
I received 400 euros a month from the university and 50 euros a month from my town council.
What's the student atmosphere like in Padova?
Magnificent! The best.
Would you recommend the town and the University of Padova to other students?
Yes, there's an incredible atmosphere, the city is delightful. I fell in love with it.
What's the food like in Italy?
They say there's nothing like Spanish cuisine, but the reality is that in Italy, the food is excellent. I myself lost 10kg of weight and I ate pasta as my main course each and every day, there are so many versions... each one better than the last.
Was it hard to find somewhere to rent in Padova?
Not at all, I found it instantly. Student halls, of course.
How much does it cost to live in Padova?
Well with the residences for example, they're much cheaper than in Murcia. For example, I was given residence in the Ederle halls for 250 euros. So cheap.
What's the language like? Did you go to any language courses at the University?
I have it down to a pat. It took me three months to master it, thanks to a course that the University offered, with help from an Italian girlfriend and managing to get away with using Spanish language.
It's essential to listen to Italian 24/7, neither speaking nor listening to Spanish. I ended up dreaming in Italian.
What's the cheapest way of getting to Padova from your city?
By plane. Alicante - Treviso.
Where would you recommend for partying in Padova?
I would say Le Queen, the big club that's now closed. Legendary!
If not, then Fishmarket - I don't know what else would be open.
For eating out in Padova, what are some of your favourite places?
Ristorante Albatros!
For cultural visits?
The best thing is to get yourself a PadovaCard and visit all the museums. They're very beautiful, especially the Scrovegni Chapel.
Any advice you'd give to the future students going to Padova?
Have fun. Because the post-Erasmus depression exists. And even more after living in a town like Padova.
