Vigelandsparken on a rainy day

Published by flag-nl Sanne Klein — 4 years ago

Vigelandsparken, a huge sculpture and architectural park in Oslo. It is around a 20 minute walk from the Oslo city. But so worth it. The day I went there it was pooring rain, however, that did not take the beauty of the park away. All sculptures are different and I have been told that they all represent a different type of stage or emotion. There is one really famous statue in the park, the statue of the crying and angry baby boy. The statue's hand is gold, because so many people have held it or taken a picture with it! You can walk around the park, up to all sculptures and see the huge pole with statues attached and created out of it. It is amazing. Next to a lot of statues, there are beautiful flowers, plants and trees surrounding and in the park. A perfect place to just walk around, read a book, listen to the nature, listen to music and relax the day away!

The park of odd sculptures

Oslo is full of a bit weird and scary sculptures, located in different places around the city. Vigelandsparken is definitely one example of this odd art. The park itself is very big and unfortunately placed further from the city center, so you can't go there on the way. The other disadvantage is Norwegian weather - you can't really be sure whether it will be raining or not. But if you're lucky and there's a sunny day, it is definitely worth the visit!

In the center you can find a big statue, most likely surrounded by tourists taking pictures, and from each side there are paths leading towards it from different points of the park. You can find smaller sculptures everywhere, mostly of naked people. Some of them are really funny, so it's worth walking passed all of them and taking a look.

It takes quite some time to see everything but the park is big and full of benches, so after the walk you can just relax in the shade of trees and look at everything from the distance. Definitely a must-see in Oslo!
