Walking along the Universal Studios Orlando Riverwalk
When I walked the Universal Studios Orlando Riverwalk, I thought that it seems familiar, and I was wondering how is that possible, since I have never been to Orlando before. And then I realized that the Riverwalk bears a resemblance to Disney springs. It is, of course, much smaller - just a street, as opposed to Disney springs, which is the whole village, but it is a fun place to walk through.
Remember, this is Florida, so a sight of palm trees like this is nothing unusual at the Universal studios Orlando riverwalk.
How to get there and where to park?
Just like the name suggests, Universal Studios Orlando Riverwalk is situated at the Universal Studios park. It is fairly easy to get there - just follow the signs that direct you to Universal studios, and then there will be signs that will direct you to the Riverwalk itself. You can park your car at the Universal Studios parking lot, and the price for parking is twenty dollars, regardless on how long you stay there.
Food and drinks
Universal Studios Orlando Riverwalk is filled with bars and restaurants, and choosing the right one can be a pain if you do not know exactly what type of food you would like to eat. Try to avoid eating dinner there, at least during usual hours, because people from the park usually stop at these restaurants on the way home from the park.
It was a busy day at the riverwalk, but I enjoyed it regardless.
You can always call in advance to make a reservation, but not all restaurants allow you to do so. My suggestion would be to eat dinner early, and then spend the rest of the evening strolling across the Riverwalk and checking out the cool shops that you will find there.
The entrance into the park:
In my opinion, the best place for dinner on the Riverwalk, is a restaurant, called Cowfish, and you can read more about it in the entry that I dedicated to describing that place.
Other things to do on the Riverwalk
Universal Studios Orlando Riverwalk is filled with cool shops, and most of them are selling souvenirs. Hint: buy your souvenirs here - they are the same souvenirs that you can buy in the park, but if you buy them at the park, you will have to carry them around all day.
You can also visit the Hard Rock Café on the riverwalk. Sometimes, they even host outdoor concerts there.
A must - do thing at the Riverwalk is taking pictures with the ‘Universal’ globe. Try to do so during sunset - the Florida sunsets are breathtaking, and you will be able to see black silhouettes of all the rides in the background.
The view from the Universal studios Orlando is pretty cool at sunset. The roller coaster that you see here, is called Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, and you can pick a song that you want to be played during the ride!
Watch the street performers. In the evenings, you can catch some pretty impressive street performing acts, and you will be able to take pictures with some of the Disney characters, if you are at the right place at the right time.
A few words for the end…
I am glad I decided to check out this place. It was definitely a great thing to do when I wanted to take a break from all the rides in the parks. And if you do not like extremely big crowds, I would suggest you to stay away from Universal Studios Orlando Riverwalk just before and after the park closes. Since the Riverwalk is situated just next to the main entrance to the park, most people will exit through that exit, and most of them will also stroll on the Riverwalk.
