Money

It is important to remember that the currency in Britain is not Euros but pounds. Therefore you will most likely have to get some currency converted. You can do this before departing or at the airport. Bear in mind it is often more expensive in the airport.

If not, cash points are located everywhere in Britain. You can take cash out there but there will be a charge for conversion. Take care with using a foreign card in the shops as it can charge you around £1 per transaction, which adds up in the end.

Documents

Many things will change in the UK after Brexit, so it's important that you are up to date regarding documents. If your country is a member of the EU/EEA/Switzerland, and you're going to be in the UK up to 6 months, all you need is your passport. However, if your country is outside of the EU, or you'll be studying there for more than 6 months you will need to get a VISA. For more information, please visit the UK Government immigration site.

In addition, the UK will not be part of the Erasmus program anymore. Instead, a new mobility program, the Turing Scheme, will be established in September 2021. As soon as we get more information regarding this program, we will share it!

Weather

British weather can be surprisingly unpredictable which makes it a popular topic of conversation amongst the Brits. It can go from raining and freezing cold one day to warm sunny days the next. However it is generally cold in winter and warm in summer. Be prepared to experience all kinds of weather!

The weather is usually fairly mild however, although it does rain a lot. Make sure to bring a raincoat and an umbrella and plenty of jumpers.
