Of course, it isn’t possible to see everything Nottingham has to offer in just 3 days. However it is possible to experience the best of it. Here is a guide on how to have the best possible Nottingham experience in just 3 days.
Day 1 in Nottingham
Taking travelling time into account, you will probably start your day in the afternoon.
Afternoon
First of all, a coffee is in order to recharge your batteries from a long morning of travelling. 200 degrees coffee bar, located just off the Market Square is an excellent first stop. Get it to go and sit on the Market Square, where you can admire whatever is going on that day. There is always something happening in the Old Market Square!
Once you’re feeling ready to go, you will most likely be wanting to see the city centre. Head up to Hockley and take a look around the vintage shops. It is a two minute walk from the Old Market Square and you never know. You might just find a hidden gem! A lot of Nottingham’s charm is hidden in this area so take a look around, explore and get to know it.
The historic lace market is located right next door. When you are bored of shopping, why not visit something cultural? The Galleries of Justice museum is open until 5.30pm (last entry at 4pm) so why not take a look around? There are often different exhibitions taking place and you can learn about some of Nottingham’s rich history. As you can save money on a joint ticket for both the galleries of justice and the City of Caves, it would only make sense to stroll down to the city of caves afterwards. After all, it stays open until 5pm and is extremely close.
Evening
As it has been a long and tiring day, you probably won’t want to do anything strenuous. Take in your surroundings and wander around the city until it is time for dinner, which calls for a burger at Annie’s burger shack. Why not try the Sunday Dinner burger? After all, the Sunday Dinner is an extremely important part of the gastronomy in Britain.
It is starting to get late but there is time for a beer or two at England’s oldest pub, Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem and then it’s time for bed to get some well deserved rest.
Day 2 in Nottingham
Morning
Rise and shine! You have a lot to do on your first morning in Nottingham. First of all, breakfast. Bills breakfasts are legendary in Nottingham so why not treat yourself to some pancakes or a full English breakfast. Don’t forget to order a cup of tea!
Once you’ve finished, it’s time to visit the castle. Take your time here as there is plenty to see. Stroll around the art galleries, take in your beautiful surroundings and learn about the history inside the museum. On leaving, getting a picture with the Robin Hood statue is a must. Everyone does it when they come to Nottingham.
Afternoon
As it is a nice day, why not take the bus to Wollaton park? Bring a picnic and admire the wild deer freely wandering around, the stunning lakeside and the gardens. Of course, a visit to the grounds afterwards is obligatory. Having withstood a great period of time and hosting many great battles, there is a lot of history to discover there. A Batman film was even filmed there! To get there, you need only take a quick bus from the city centre. The buses on the orange line and the grey 53 run there, amongst others.
Evening
If you aren’t too full from breakfast, you must visit Rub Smokehouse in the lace market and try one of their epic food specials washed down with an alcoholic milkshake. You can always burn this off afterwards at the Lost Woods Adventure golfin the Cornerhouse. This is located in the city centre so you can easily walk there. It isn’t too far away from the Old Market Square.
Day 3 in Nottingham
Morning
Start your day off with an award winning Alley breakfast at the Alley Cafe. It is a version of a full English with a veggie twist! Then it’s off to the Broadmarsh bus station, to catch a bus to Sherwood forest. How could you come to Nottingham and not visit the place most commonly associated with the legend of Robin Hood? Visit the Major Oak and maybe give archery a go. There are many hiking trails and a visitor’s centre so you can learn all about the legend of Robin Hood.
Afternoon
It is time to move on to Go Ape in Sherwood Pines Forest park. Release your inner ape, swinging through the trees and have a go on the Segway. It’s a lot of fun!
Evening
You must be starving from all that exercise! It is time to pay George’s Great British Kitchen a visit, where you can try some traditional British fish and chips. You are most likely exhausted too, but you can’t let your last night in Nottingham go to waste. Head to the National Ice Centre for a Panthers game and sit back, relax and enjoy the action.
